Well there was i thinking Texas was warm this time of year. had plans to go to the Alamo in San Antonio and have a look up at the waterfalls in the mountains.I hit Austin on Saturday 13th only to realise that I was iced in.

Around the hotel I was able to see ice storms in the making with beautiful sculptures crafted by natures shapes. I was actually iced in the roads were too dangerous to drive on and all restaurants and shops closed.
By Tuesday Cabin fever was setting in so I ventured out as the ice began to melt. Austin town centre is a lively student town. Great side alleyways and street vendors.

As ever some of the best shots are captured when everyone else is at home warm in bed or cannot be bothered.

The pizza place was a great pit stop, the gas cylinders I thought were to power the hut, nope, warm face fans while you munched on the pizza and the olive oil dribbled down your cold hand, warming not quite burning.

Whilst I will not return quickly, I think Miami will be the next trip of this kind next year. I hope I dont take snow there when I go. !! I left a friend of mine there with my 10.5mm he is traveling around texas so see what he comes back with.
